What to check before relying on a grant
Confirm the current grant amount, property requirements, installer requirements, and whether a technical assessment or energy upgrade pathway is needed.
Do not assume that a grant alone makes the running cost case work. You still need to compare electricity price, existing fuel cost, SCOP, insulation, and installation scope.
Example payback effect
If an installation costs EUR14,000 and grant support reduces the homeowner cost by EUR6,500, the net cost is EUR7,500. If the estimated annual saving is EUR600, simple payback is about 12.5 years.
If annual savings are only EUR200, payback is much longer. That is why the cost calculator and a proper heat loss survey are both important.
